The back-story:

I just met A.J. Jimenez, who runs Big Fish Small Pond, a great independent apparel company right here in Windsor.

We were chillin at Phog Lounge where we decided to put together a one-off hip-hop jam for Thursday, August 26 (thanks Tom!) to show love to the Rose City's boom bap fans.

So there you have it.

BRING DA RUCKUS

With a killer lineup and an open format to showcase live beat production, freestyle rhyming and live support from B-boy Loebz from Ill At Will, we're hoping this turns into a regular thing. You in?

For the good of hip-hop, this event is free. Some of the best emcees and producers will be there settin it off, so show up! I'm callin YOU out!!

New Single from LEO37 - Icarus

Hey Readers,

I want to thank you for being so fly, firstly. Thank you!

Speaking of fly, Icarus is one of two brand new songs from LEO37, Toronto's worldly and ethereal emcee. The new single starts off with a sunny, funky jazz groove that sandwiches the second verse, backed by a bumping hip hop break provided by the live instrumentalists in The Worst Pop Band Ever. The song's lyrical and musical high is followed by an abrupt descent back into the main melody lead by more fat bass lines and mellow syncopated organ. This joint is a class act as it reads sort of like a sonnet and is themed after the ironic flight of one mythological Icarus, the young adventurist whose waxen wings melted when he flew to close to the sun.

Scoop both Icarus and Morning for free at LEO37's site.

I don't expect LEO37's wings to be melting anytime soon as he is about to embark on The Clipped Wings Tour which kicks off May 7th in Windsor at Phog Lounge with performances from LEO, Magnolius, Detroit's USM and Flow & Smooth.

Don't miss LEO37 live in your backyard on tour, starting May 7 in Windsor.
