Monica Blaire & Ro Spit x Burn Rubber 3 Year Anniversary
Two of the most polished artists in Detroit are performing on stage together to bring you The Renaissance State of Mind Experience. Starting at 6pm, Friday July 2nd in the alley behind St. Andrew's Hall, join Ro & MB for a friendly BBQ, followed by a stage show like no other in Detroit that blends hip-hop and R&B backed by a live band. Ro's raps and energetic, yet nonchalant demeanor combined with Monica Blaire's powerful voice and amazing personality will give you chills. Promise. If they don't, you probably don't have feelings. Just sayin'.
The theme of the night was inspired by Ro & MB's winning remake of Jay-Z's Renaissance State of Mind -- our boy DBIT re-created the beat from scratch for them. Talk about commercial appeal! The track can be found on Ro's "Oh SH#T! Project" which came out in late 2009. Download it at RoSpit.com.
Here's the video.
You can also check out my exclusive interview with Monica Blaire, just before her groundbreaking performance at the DIA.

The performance upstairs at St. Andrew's will be followed by a great afterparty downstairs at The Shelter with DJ Graffiti. Nice one guys!!!

Teleportouring Through Your Neighborhood!
I am so glad to have been able to speak with such talented musicians! The Vantastic Teleportour's stop in Detroit is going to be amazing!
Bring your good hearts and let's dance. You can follow the tour's blog, they've only got two more stops before they're back to regular sleeping patterns, and Division Gallery is one of them!
Here's a little bit about the artists that I spoke with tonight on Minced Meat:
Kilowatts (Philadelphia) provides mellow, melodic, friendly sounds for minimal and ambient downtempo electronic idm fans, and folks who love to dance to stimulating beats!
Aligning Minds (Maryland via DC) are staples on any psychedelic-themed music festival's roster. They bring top end technology and sneak trippy frequencies in their live sets to stir the subconscious of unsuspecting listeners!
The Great Mundane brings young jazz-crunk, a fusion of hip hop beats that travel along electro's momentum. His new release Humdrum is available for download!
These artists have a great roster of labels behind them, many of which deserve a closer look. Check out Psymbolic, Aleph Zero and Native State's sister labels Somnia and Thoughtless Music to begin.
With Detroit's own Madis One releasing new music on Blank Artists soon, and E.Spleece and Perilelle constantly providing universal auditory pleasure, this lineup is certainly one for sore ears.
Here are the set times for the party:
Doors at 9pm
Kero Visuals - live video projections on multiple walls all night
Madis One - 9:30pm
E.Spleece & Perilelle - 10pm
The Great Mundane - 11pm
Aligning Minds - 12am
Kilowatts - 1am
I know you have to work early on Thursday, so the live music will be wrapped up by 2am. Get in on time or miss out!
You can find out more information and RSVP at the FB page, or check out the listing on Fusicology.com or DLuv.
Listen to what The Great Mundane, Mike from Aligning Minds and Kilowatts had to say about their adventures thus far, as well as some technological hints on what they'll use to deliver their live sets this Wednesday night.
Click here for the two-hour program.
