Films + More

The Windsor International Film Festival is on now, with a great lineup of independent films. Tickets are selling out fast!!!
www.windsorfilmfestival.ca
I'm particularly interested in Sukiyaki Western Django. Guy Maddin is also in town, and his films are creating a lot of buzz.

Also, it just so happens that VJ Carrie Gates (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) homepage.usask.ca/~cdg118/home.html is in town, working with Kero (www.detroitunderground.net) on how to get Max MSP to read an EEG meter and change an image or video in front of you when your brainwaves switch focus. (To put it basically).
She also knows a little bit about nanobots and works at the University of Saskatoon. Check out Bricolodge, the 'experimental music net.label' that Carrie runs with partner Jon Vaughn. They have 20 releases for free download!! www.notype.com/bricolodge

Did anyone go to detroit docs?
I was in the US with Benn Jordan aka The Flashbulb. www.bennjordan.com, www.theflashbulb.net

I watched Day of the Dead (George Romero) for the first time last night and was quite impressed, horrified, appalled and amused.

ALSO: MEDIA CITY 15: International Film Festival of Experimental Film and Video Art has just put out the call for submissions. I worked for MC at last year's festival and met some really, really cool people and saw some of the most avant-garde/experimental/mind-fucky films recently created. Artists came from all over the world to showcase and discuss their works.

(Please contact me if you'd like to volunteer!!!!)

Don't forget to tune in to Minced Meat tonight!
