the music
People drift, you know, and so I apologize for not talking a whole lot about music, as I promised in my original post.
So, lately, it's been hip hop.
I went to Illite's release party at Alvin's last Saturday night with a couple friends and it was pretty chill, albeit a little awkward as I was pretty blitzed when I got there at like, 10pm.
I enjoyed performances from Illite himself, Nick Speed --- oh MAN his beats are so TIGHT and mmmmm chill -- as well as Asylum 7 (whose name SOUNDS crazy but really he is one of the most sane, stable people I've gotten to know of late). heard Magest Leg up there too, and it was cool, but I can't lie: I was hoping to see the whole subterranneous crew all together.
........
Now I understand that people get beefy or all bent out of shape sometimes, and I know what it's like to be mad at someone for a while, to the point of not forgiving OR forgetting. But I learned something sort of important recently: People don't HOLD grudges, they create new ones every day.
Remember what I was just saying about trust and betrayal?
Anyway...
Another sweet event I wasn't at that I wish I WAS at was "Free crack and everyone gets laid" this past Tuesday at the Works. G.O.D. > Blank Artists Vacuum and E.Spleece played alongside my friend Kero... those three artists together make up for about half of my favourite local electronic artists. Kero does "IDM" & lately dubstep, while G.O.D. is a perfect blend of minimal, electro and house. Seriously, they're so fucking good, one of my fave memories is dancing to them until the early morning last new year's eve with my friend Andrea.
I should do some work or something.
Be back for more, later.
Oh wait! I guess I could mention that TONIGHT at Phog Lounge, kero's playing with DNME, SubMental, and WHY ME as it's the event "Denial VS Phog Lounge" --- Denial's art's on the wall and we be takin over Phog with electronic SHIZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hell yeah:D

Strange
Sometimes we can't get anywhere cuz we find it much easier to betray one another than we do trust one another.
I suppose the bigger risk is in trusting, but with all the betrayal going on, and self-aggrandizing mentalities and self-incorporating bullshit, how can we expect to evolve anymore? We have to trust that someone will tend the fire while some of us go out to hunt and gather.
Can you trust me?
Can you trust yourself?
(to do what?)

Work it out, ladies and gents!
Did you know: performing tasks is really healthy for your brain. If, say, you're a cook, or you muck horse stalls, or you are a mail-carrier, or simply answer phones, or you deliver information, or you are a cleaner or janitor -- it doesn't matter what you do -- such activities stimulate your brain in ways that expressing yourself creatively does not. In fact, it refreshes your brain as it gives your right brain time to relax and replenish itself. So after doing a simple task, like washing the dishes, you might feel better about having to meet your deadlines as you won't have completely exhausted your creative mind. So, in short, yes: "working" will help you keep working!
Just thought I'd share that.
It's really important to take breaks and let your brain wander a little. For example, if I have to edit something, I have to look away for a while to gain more perspective, or less perspective, or a different perspective. It really, really helps a lot.
Here's a task for you: put on a pair of rubber gloves and some old clothes, and walk down street close to yours. Pick up some garbage that some animals might have gotten into overnight, or pulll a couple weeds out of the ground. Maybe your bathroom sink needs to be scrubbed, or your kitchen floor. Go ahead, make something shiny.
