Assorted Goods!

Exchange Bureau Records releases Assorted Good Vol.1, a delicious serving of some of the best music Detroit has to offer right now in terms of hip hop and electronicae. Download it at Exchange Bureau Music's Website. It features the official release of dial81's original Funky Candidate (box car portal, Superior Belly Records, 2008) and the remix by Furs. Catch dial81 at Gleaners Benefit Show on March 21st and Furs at Phog Lounge on March 20th! The comp also showcases previously unreleased music from Snowman Jack & Magestik Legend, Ibex and more. Szymanski and Perilelle, a classic combination, are featured on the release as well.

Hopefully you've heard already, but Perilelle has a new music video for her song Damages, directed by local filmmaker Sean McLeod. It'll be entering into the WAMM Online Music Video Contest: the winner will be announced in the next issue.

Catch Perilelle live at Phog on March 26th for the Smash The Glass musical showcase!

Speakin' of Shows,

Check out The Sponge, a brainy emcee! He's workin on some new stuff as well, with producer Decline. And check out the track Sincere did with Mobil while you're at it! Local Hip Hop, stand up!

Here's another event to try and make it out to, it's an exhibition showcasing 14 years of vinyl on record label Interdimensional Transmissions with SALVATORE PRINCIPATO of Liquid Liquid alongside BMG/Ectomorph. THE PAWN SHOP YEARS (1995 - 2009) goes from 10pm to midnight at the Bankle Building. There's some deep history behind this one, folks: records to be displayed include original releases by Ectomorph, Perspects, Alpha 606, I.B.M, I-f, Goudron and GD Luxxe and IT Compilation Artists DJ Godfather, Shake, Phoenicia, Synapse, Spacelings & Bassheads, Keith Tucker, Mike Paradinas (Mu-Ziq) and many more as well as remixers Adult., BMG, Kill Memory Crash +++.

As a special treat, here is the only music video ever commissioned by 99 Records, an independent record store in NYC that lived for the first four short years of the 80s and specialized in UK imports. Liquid Liquid, having released their first presses exclusively with 99 (nine nine) was an original post punk band that lasted from 1980-1983. The EP's have since been reissued by Mo Wax and Grand Royale, and remain seminal influences on the genre of electro, which is currently seeing an interesting reinvigoration, both locally and worldwide.

Check the facebook event if ya want, thanks to JoFuss for the info on this one!
