Local Artists at SXSW: Music and Films!

Heya! Just wanted to let you all know about some of the hometown representation we're getting at SXSW happening March 18-22, 2009-- a highly concentrated, talent-saturated festival happening every year in Austin, Texas. It brings together folks from every spectrum: film and music as well as interactive workshops that help enhance the industry. Top-notch artists, both independent and major-label, from hip hop to punk, funk, indie rock, electronic/dance and more, from all over the world will be there.
So, much respect to Dante & D.Allie who'll be be holding it down strong for our area. They're touring, performing live at shows along the route to the festival, as well as at SXSW itself.
Here's the schedule.

Invincible and Finale will also be down in Texas, making a stop in Houston to perform at the Houston Palestine Film Festival, as well as show Invincible's newest "docu-music video" People Not Places. But first, March 14th will see them debut the video on home turf at the Ann Arbor-Palestine Film Festival. People Not Places is a single from Invincible's Shapeshifters, ft. Abeer and produced by Vaughan T of the Lab Techs and the mighty Athletic Mic League. You may remember her first documentary style music video Locusts which came out last year with the release of her debut solo album. We were lucky enough at CJAM to get to speak with her (big up to Josh Bryant, host of the Josh Bryant Show, for that great interview) and have her over in Windsor to perform at the NCRC last May.
The A-Side Worldwide Crew will be there as well, featuring the debut of CROWN ROYALE (DJ Rhettmatic of Beat Junkies and BUFF1!!!)

And.... Since i was on the topic of films, please check out this sweet monthly event dedicated to local filmmakers - The Mitten Movie Project! I went to check it out last Tuesday at Main Art Theatre in Royal Oak, what a great concept! I went over there with the intention of recruiting some filmmakers for both Media City 15 (May 20-23) as well as Harvesting the F.A.M. Festival (October 2, 3, 4) both will feature regional films of all types, genres and styles. Show us your films!!!

That's all for now... next up, MIX MASSACRE, Self Says EP download, Minced Meat Presents iNSiDEaMiND and mAGNOLIUS March 27th, and lots more!
