ST and AMRA on Minced Meat LIVE This Sunday!

That's right. I've mentioned it before, but I wanted to remind you again. Tune in for a special live electronic set from two guys who have been working super hard lately. They were recently featured in The Windsor Star!
Adam Rideout-Arkell (aka AMRA: keys, vocals, etc) is 1/3 of Yellow Wood, a Windsor fan favourite. Usually joined by his bro Matthew (drums etc) and R. Matthew Fields (bass etc), this Sunday at 12AM on CJAM, AMRA will be joined by Stefan (drummer of Michou) aka ST aka Efan! for a showcase of their fun-lovin electronicae, as transmitted through "ableton live with just a couple of midi controllers."

While you can usually catch Stefan beatboxing and playing his ukelele at Phog's Monday night Open Mic Surgery with Tara Watts, ST and AMRA first caught my attention at Phog's Freestyle Speech-Scoring event, where Tom had a bunch of local musicians who specialize in improvising come out to play their music live to famous speeches. Stefan and Adam sat down on the stage and emitted sounds slightly reminiscent of Boards of Canada, with punchier drums, wavering between crunchy hip hop, synthesized electro and ambient trip hop. They made an even deeper impression on me when they came in to do the same type of performance the night that Phog won Best Live Music Venue in Canada, where their set was even more compact. Totally fat-free ear candy. Yellow Wood's new album is one I am excited for: it's described as being more electronically influenced, which I think is a natural progression for this group of incredibly talented artists (release date TBA). It's currently being finished up: you can actually watch YWTV and witness the album's construction as it happens! Watch it at YW's Myspace. Check out Efan! while you're at it!

UPDATE: Tom from Phog wrote an article for the Windsor Star just yesterday, where he mentions Yellow Wood. Here it is!
