Media City Film Festival

MEDIA CITY 15 Experimental Film and Video Art Festival starts Wednesday, May 20th through Saturday, May 23rd at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Windsor.

Media City is a festival that is recognized for the unique type and calibre of each program. This year there were over 1,100 submissions from all over the world, from which a selection of 50 new films and this year's artist retrospectives (Jean-Claude Rousseau, Robert Frenz) were chosen. Not a lot of narratives here; most, if not all the films are short in length and abstract in content, to find the side of you that wishes to experience the medium of film without cliched story lines, films that engage a variety of visual and technological aspects, such as Sunday 6th April, 11:42 a.m. by Flatform of Italy. This 6 minute video "describes a landscape as a complex network of connections that guide relationships between people. The video focuses on actions and places, movements and the environment, and underlines the reciprocal connection between environment and its inhabitants, where territory plays an inevitable role in anthropomorphic transformations." +

www.houseoftoast.ca has the festival's history, and the full program is available here.
